What is the value of a Titus 2 Retreat? Linda was nudged to start Titus 2 for Life after years of trying to help Lutherans understand the deception of abortion. The speaker became the listener. She heard countless stories of Lutheran women who had been deceived but, after their abortion, fell into despair. These women taught Linda that many other choices are made before an abortion choice. For this reason, a Titus 2 Retreat begins at the beginning: God's Word to us in Genesis. The retreat encourages women to trust their identity as God's beloved creation, contrast the world with the Word, and bring hope to an immoral culture.
Our first mother, Eve, was deceived and then doubted God's Word. She determined for herself what was "right" and "wrong." We have all doubted. We have all been deceived by silly myths, our fickle feelings, and changing opinions. The Proverbs 31 woman is different. She is praised, not because of what she does, but because she is not deceived.
There is hope! A woman who trusts God is a new person in Christ. She values her created purpose as a helper (ezer). She can help expose the darkness with Light. She can help men, children, and her community.
In the beginning
was the Word,
and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He was in the
beginning with God.
All things were made
through Him, and without
Him was not anything made that was made.
In Him was life, and the
life was the light of men.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us,
and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son
from the Father,
full of grace and truth.
(John 1:1-4, 14)
